What is Choghadiya?

Choghadiya is a Vedic Hindu calendar of muhurats (auspicious time slots) used to choose the right time for any new activity. The day and night are each divided into 8 parts (called Choghadiyas) of about 1 hour 30 minutes. Each muhurat is classified as Amrut, Shubh or Labh (highly auspicious), Char (good for travel), or Kaal, Rog, Udveg (inauspicious — to be avoided). Choghadiya is consulted especially for travel, business, signing contracts, and starting any new venture.
